Leadership Philosophy

50 yearsThe Strom Companies occupy a place of leadership that is equal parts a pleasure and an obligation.

Clarence Thomas2011 marks the 50th year that The Strom Companies’ Strom Engineering has been serving its clients and employees. We feel pride in our longevity but also are keenly aware of the unique position in which this places us. The status of one of the nation’s longest serving contract staffing and consulting companies is part of why we stand as a leader and gives us the opportunity to reflect on some of the contributing factors in this lengthy achievement.

I believe that one of the key elements of leadership is to intentionally choose to do what is right and proper, even when it would be easier or more convenient to do less. This belief is embraced by the staff of The Strom Companies and spreads throughout the entire organization.

I was recently at a conference where two speakers’ messages reflected our philosophy well: Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and former Notre Dame Football Coach Lou Holtz.

Justice Thomas asked this question: “Do you go along to get along?” He further asked, “What are your principles worth?”

John and Martha RadickAnswering for The Strom Companies, we will never compromise in our principles to gain any unearned or unworthy advantage.

Coach Holtz presented three simple rules that he asks his players and his children to follow, which is also asked of every staff member of The Strom Companies.

  • “Do the right thing. Always.”
  • “Do everything to the best of your abilities.”
  • “Show everyone that you care.”

These speakers state clearly and eloquently what I believe to be part of the reason The Strom Companies are worthy leaders in our business and in our community.
